Anna went on to perform in a number of other productions, including the musical A Little Night Music, in which she played Fredrika Armfeldt in the New York City Opera production. Afterwards, she made her film debut in the 2003 comedy musical Camp. Due to her portrayal of Fritzi Wagner in this film, she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Awards Best Debut Performance.

In 2007, Anna had a role in the film Rocket Science, in which she played Ginny Ryerson, a high school debater that talked fast. Later that year, Anna auditioned for the role of Jessica Stanley in the film adaptation of Twilight, a 2008 film based on the initial book of the series by Stephenie Meyer. She had intended to do auditions with various actors, but she was too sick and had to leave. Fortunately for her, she was able to come back for a later session where she won the role of Jessica.
